Resource Plastics
At Resource Plastics, we make it simple to understand how our recycling and compounding work. This page answers the most common questions about our process — from how we handle post-industrial plastics to how manufacturers across the U.S. use our regrind, resin, and sustainable materials. Based in Alsip, Illinois, we’ve been helping companies reduce waste and support the circular economy since 1994.
FAQ
Which plastics does Resource Plastics buy and recycle?
Resource Plastics accepts a wide range of post-industrial plastic forms generated during manufacturing and distribution. These include Film, Totes, Bins, Corrugated sheets, Crates, Cutoffs, Lids, Caps, Pallets, Purge, Preforms, Bottles, Sprues, and Runners.
Do you accept post-industrial, post-commercial, or post-consumer plastics?
Our focus is post-industrial streams. Share details (resin, form, photos) and we’ll confirm if we can take your material.
What are the minimum pickup quantities?
We schedule LTL or full truckload based on resin, volume, and distance. Send estimated weight, packaging type (gaylords/bales), and pickup ZIP for a fast yes/no.
Do you provide containers or baling equipment?
We can coordinate pickups and discuss container options for steady suppliers. Include your scrap form and frequency when you contact us.
What material forms can you supply?
Regrind/flake (standard ~3/8″) and reprocessed/compounded pellets; we also trade wide-spec and prime as available.
Can you compound to target specs (MFR, impact, color)?
We blend, pelletize, dry, and compound in-house. Share your target spec sheet; our team will confirm feasibility and run conditions.
How do reprocessed pellets compare to prime resin?
Our compounded pellets are designed to compete with prime on performance at a more attractive price for many applications—final suitability depends on your part and process.
What are typical lead times and MOQs?
Lead times depend on resin, color, and volume. Provide target lbs/month, packaging (bags/supersacks), and ship-to ZIP for a precise window.
